Architecture Hub ¡¤ A shopping center¡¦ with a corner that could slide open and shut on rails. That was James Wines¡¯ ¡°Site Project¡± (1977) in Sacramento—where the façade became a moving artwork, turning everyday retail into a deconstructivist surprise and quietly asking: is architecture supposed to stay still? It didn¡¯t last. In 1990, the piece was demolished when the center chose a conventional, low-maintenance renovation—closing the chapter on this bold public art experiment.
