What could be the strongest Atlantic hurricane in over a decade struck the Bahamas on Thursday and took aim at Florida after pummeling Haiti and Cuba.

Residents across the Caribbean struggled to clean up from Hurricane Matthew, while those in the U.S. Southeast boarded up windows, crowded into stores and waited in lines at gas stations. Florida was preparing what could be its "biggest evacuation ever," Gov. Rick Scott said.
