2000.New Millennium.2001

Dear Mr. Gum,

It's been a while we've both been busy. Last year, 2000, was one of the
successful time for me. Along my research and study at the MIT Media Lab, I
had two major conference (CHI, SIGGRAPH) presentations, awards from IDSA
(Industrial Designers Society of America) and Business Week, COMDEX (key
note speech staff for the president of EDS, Dick Brown). There was a large
scale exhibition at NTT-ICC (Tokyo) in the summer and a small gig in
Boston. Also I gave a lecture at RCA, NYU-ITP, Mixed Reality-System, NTT,
IAMAS, KAIST, etc. My work has been published in INNOVATION, Doc21, NTT-ICC
publication, MIT Media Lab Frames, CHI and SIGGRAPH proceedings, and I also
had interviews with several newspaper including Asai, Business Week, New
Scientist, Thresholds, Ruin, etc. Anyway, I am finishing up my third
Masters degree in this June at MIT, but still didn't decide my next step yet.

As long as my projects are diverse in Arts, Architecture, and Interface
Design, sometime people recognize myself as an artist, a designer, a
researcher. As an example, just catching up with recently broadcasted TV
program, "Digital Design and Digital Revolution: 21c Design as Survival
Strategy", made by SBS (Channel 6), aired on December 6-7th, 2000 in Seoul,
I would like to inform you that the videotape introduces various design
research and practice worldwide (USA, Europe, Japan, and Korea), including
MIT Media Lab and my short interview. Most well known industrial design
firms were also introduced in the tape. It presents a special documentary
for current design trends, especially digital design and industrial design.
Fortunately SBS sent me a copy of videotape, so I watched all and thought
that it could be worthwhile to recommend you to check out.

There are two volumes for the documentary. You can find Vol. 1, on-line at
http://www.sbs.co.kr/tv/tvlist_old.html. Other design firms, MIT Media Lab,
and myself appear on Vol 2. To purchase the second volume or a copy of the
entire program for educational purpose, please contact Lee Pungho
PD. his office phone number is 369-2811.

Now I am writing up an article for DongaScince Magazine about "Interface
Design" focusing on HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) and Interaction
Design, as a part of special report about "Gamsung Engineering in Digital
Age". It will provide more clearly about my perspective and vision for the
future, in writing. I think it will be issued on Feb. 2001. I am happy to
say that Korean folks approach me although I am far away from it.

Hope everything going well and please update me what you are doing.
Happy New Millennium!

Jay @ Boston
