크리스토의 생각을 쉽게 받아들였다...
빠리시장 자끄 시락과 크리스토의 마지막 면담이 이루어졌는데...그.자리에서...

시락은: " 제작비는 얼마나 필요한가 ???..."
크리스토는: " 나는 남의 돈으로 작품 제작하지 않는다..."
시락은: " 돈 받지 않는다면 설치 허가 취소하겠다..."
크리스토는:" 왜 ??? 다른 곳은 환경.안전.관리 문제 따위로 오히려 사용료를 요구하는데..."

시락은: " 빠리 한 가운데 그런 예술 작업을 하는데... 지원금도 주지 않은 시장이라고 알려지기를 바라지 않는다...
그렇다면 차기 선거에 내 표들이 떨어져 나갈 것은 뻔하지 않겠는가..."
크리스토는: " 그래도 나는 돈 받지 않겠다...나는 내가 지닌 돈으로만 작업을 해 왔다"
시락은: " 그러면 설치 허가를 보류, 취소할 수 뿐이 없겠다... 그러나 내가 차기 선거에 당선된다면 다시 받아들이도록 해보겠다..."

덧말.1...이 이야기는 크리스토 입에서 내 귀로 직접 들은 말이다...
덧말.2...자끄 시락은 빠리 시장에 다시 당선 되어었고, 그 뒤 이 작업이 이루어질 수 있었다...

최근 몇년전에 이루어졌던 베르린에 있는 국회의사당 포장을 하려고...
설치 20여년 전 부터 신청하여 겨우 성사되었다...
그 사이 바뀐 도이치란드 수상들 3명이나 면담해야 했었고...
바뀐 국회의장들은 그 이상 5명이나 만나야 했다던가...

Christo and Jeanne-Claude produced the project Surrounded Islands: eleven islands in Biscayne Bay near Miami, Florida, were
surrounded by wide collars of floating pink polypropylene fabric. The documentation of all Christo and Jeanne-Claude projects...

Christo (Javacheff), born in 1935 in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Between 1953 and 1956 he studied painting, sculpture and stage
design at the Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia. In 1956 he lived briefly in Prague, Czechoslovakia. In 1957 he studied sculpture for
one term under Fritz Wotruba at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. In 1958 he settled in Paris. He became temporarily
associated with the Nouveau R괶listes. In 1958 he began to package objects. His assemblages of oil drums were shown in
Cologne in 1961. He exhibited in 1963 at the Galerie Schmela, D?seldorf. In 1964 he moved to New York where he made
his first "store fronts". In 1966 his "store fronts" were shown at the Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, and at the Leo
Castelli Gallery, New York. In 1968 he packaged the Berner Kunsthalle - his first pacakaged building. He was represented at
the documenta exhibitions "4", "5" and "6" in Kassel in 1968, 1972 and 1974, and in 1972 and 1976 at the Venice Biennale.
He produced overdimensional packaging projects for buildings, skyscrapers and landscapes. His especially well-known
largescale projects were Valley Curtain, Rifle, Colorado in 1972 and Running Fence, California, in 1976. In 1977 his
exhibition Christo - The Running Fence toured Rotterdam, Bonn, Hanover, Humblebaek, H?ikoden, Zurich, Brussels and
Grenoble. In 1971 he began the project Wrapped Reichstag with his artistic partner Jeanne-Claude, which was completed in
1995. In 1980 he took part in the exhibition Mein K?ner Dom for the 100th anniversary of the cathedral. In 1983 Christo
